At the beginning of the third day of racing the lead car (the University of Minnesota) is currently in Burlington, Kansas. As an indicator of the speed of the race, it took 10 hours 09 min & 33 seconds to cover the first 518 miles. MIT is in fourth position just South of Rest, Kansas, (11:44:55). Auburn is 7th, Iowa State is 9th; Stanford is 11th; Kansas State is 14th; Queens is 15th. Northwestern withdrew after running through rain caused a terminal fault in their storage batteries, and SIU Edwardsville was disqualified.
